A certified representative from a province or territory of Canada other than Québec must submit an Application for Examination Registration (pdf - 287 KB)This link will open in a new windowUpdated on January 1st, 2024Examination registration authorization for mortgage brokerage Authorization to the AMF and attach the following two documents:
- A photocopy of the document issued by a competent authority showing that the candidate held a legal authorization to practise when residing outside Québec.
The legal authorization must have been in effect in the year prior to the candidate’s application for examination registration (regardless of the duration of the authorization). It must also be equivalent to the candidate’s certificate applied for in Québec. See the reference tables below to find out which equivalences are granted.
- Proof that the candidate resided in the Canadian province or territory when the authorization was granted by the competent authority. This proof must include the candidate’s name and address.
The following are accepted as proof of residence:
- Driver’s licence issued by a Canadian province;
- Municipal or school tax bill;
- Government postal correspondence;
- Recent invoice from an energy, residential telephone service or cable supplier;
- Hospital card accompanied by a health insurance card bearing a photograph;
- Record of employment or pay stub;
- Home or car insurance certificate or statement;
- Transcript from a Canadian college or university;
- Bank statement;
- Canada Post change of address receipt.
Once the examination(s) have been passed, the candidate must complete a probationary period in the chosen sector or sector class.
Note that candidates who surrender or do not renew their authorization to practise in another province or territory must, within three years following the surrender or non-renewal of that authorization:
- Pass the AMF exam(s) indicated in the reference tables;
- Complete the probationary period;
- Apply for a representative’s certificate

The tables below list, by province or territory of Canada, legal authorizations to practise that facilitate the holder’s ability to obtain a representative’s certificate issued by the AMF. It also shows the requirements that must be met for each representative’s certificate.
Candidates from a province or territory of Canada other than Québec who hold a legal authorization to practise that does not appear in the tables below will have to satisfy the same qualification requirements as a Québec candidate.
