The AMF requires future professionals to pass the following examinations, based on the sector or sector class in which they plan to practise, in order to ensure they have the necessary skills to properly advise clients.
A candidate must score at least 60% to pass each examination prescribed by the AMF. A candidate is considered to have failed an examination if he or she fails to comply with the instructions given during the examination session. However, a failure may be cancelled by the AMF where warranted by exceptional circumstances.
An examination is valid for two years from the date passed. All examinations must be valid when you begin your probationary period. If you have failed an exam, consult the page Rules for rewriting failed exams to find out what applies to your situation.

Do you have an exam rewrite scheduled for January 2027 or later? Here’s what you need to know.
The AMF has updated the Damage Licence Qualification Program and Claims Adjustment Qualification Program to ensure that future representatives possess the necessary knowledge and competence to respond to changes in the practices and realities of the sector.
Starting in January 2027, new examinations will replace the current ones.
Claims adjustment
05-115 – Integrate into practice the general principles of law applicable to damage insurance and the rules governing the activities of claims adjusters
will be replaced by examination:
05-125 – Set up a professional practice in compliance with the regulations governing the activities of claims adjusters
These changes apply to both initial and supplemental examinations.
If you failed examination 05-115 and you are still eligible for a rewrite on or after January 5, 2027:
- your rewrite will be for the new examination 05-125;
- the rewrite will be considered an initial attempt for examination 05-125;
- you will therefore have four attempts to pass this new examination (1 initial examination and 3 supplemental examinations)
The rules for rewriting examinations remain unchanged.
