Training equivalents recognized by the AMF Claims adjustment

One of the minimum qualifications required to apply for authorization to register for AMF examinations in the follow sectors and their related sector classes is an attestation of a level of education equivalent to a diploma of collegial studies (DCS):

  • Damage insurance
  • Claims adjustment

Conditions for obtaining an attestation of a level of education equivalent to a DCS

  • Do not hold a diploma evidencing the successful completion of any of the minimum qualifications required to apply for authorization to register for examinations
  • Have successfully completed courses as part of a recognized training program in Canada, and
  • Hold one of the following:
    • a secondary school diploma (SSD) issued in Canada
    • a diploma of vocational studies (DVS) consisting of at least 60 units, issued in Québec
    • a Certificate of Equivalence of Secondary Studies (CESS) issued in Québec
    • an Attestation of Equivalence of Secondary V Studies (AESS) issued in Québec
    • an Attestation of Collegial Studies (ACS), minimum 27 credits, issued in Québec

The Application or Review of Application for recognition of education equivalent to diploma of collegial studies (DCS) form is available in the “Becoming a professional” tab under “Equivalences of minimum qualifications.”

To expedite the processing of your application, you will need:

  • Your client number (10 digits)
  • An electronic copy of one of the following documents confirming your studies:
    • official transcript confirming that you hold an SSD issued in Canada, a DVS consisting of at least 60 units, an AESS, a CESS or an ACS consisting of at least 27 credits issued in Québec
    • assessment report issued by the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration, WES or another member of the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada This link will open in a new window confirming a result similar to or higher than an SSD
    • electronic copy of official transcripts of other studies in which one or more additional years of education can be added
  • An electronic copy of your valid proof of Canadian identity
  • If applicable:
    • your American Express, MasterCard or Visa credit card
  • the client number of the third party-payer
  • the client number of the organization that is sponsoring you
  • the client number or address of the third party to whom you would like the results of the analysis of your application to be sent

Make sure that you provide copies of all supporting documents related to your application, as incomplete applications will not be considered.

Tracking your application

When the AMF receives your application, you will be sent a confirmation that includes your application number and client number. You can track the progress of your file in the “Client File” tab under “Follow up on applications/requests” in E-Services.

Note that you must wait for the AMF’s written decision before submitting your application for authorization to register for examinations.

Using AMF E-Services is strongly recommended because it will speed up your transactions and reduce processing times. We therefore encourage you to register for AMF E-Services. If you are unable to register for AMF E-Services and need to send documents in paper format, you must:

A number of people besides Commissioners for Oaths are allowed to administer oaths owing to their office or function (e.g., lawyers, notaries, mayors, and municipal councillors). Their names are not included in the register. The AMF will examine the proof of full-time employment submitted by you in order to verify that you hold or have held one or more full-time jobs for at least 30 months. Full-time experience as the owner of a business or a self-employed worker will also be considered.
