Montréal – In a decision handed down on February 17, 2010 in the Court of Québec, district of Montréal, Judge Claude Millette issued a guilty verdict against Anthony Cappellano, one of the representatives charged by the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) in the Mount Real matter.

Anthony Cappellano, who faced nine charges, was fined $9,000 for acting illegally as a securities dealer and adviser.

On April 18, 2008, Judge Suzanne Coupal of the Court of Québec found Anthony Cappellano guilty on the same charges. However, on November 21, 2008, Superior Court Judge Jean-Guy Boilard allowed an appeal by Anthony Cappellano and ordered a new trial.

The AMF reminds investors to ensure that individuals offering financial products are duly registered, by consulting its on-line Register of firms and individuals authorized to practice or by calling the AMF Information Centre.

The Autorité des marchés financiers ("AMF") is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec’s financial sector.
