Dossier PlexCoinDominic Lacroix sentenced to jail time

Decisions and Freeze and cease trade orders Securities

Montréal, December 8, 2017 – The Honourable Justice Marc Lesage of the Superior Court of Québec, District of Québec, today sentenced Dominic Lacroix and DL Innov inc. to two months in jail and ordered them to pay a total of $110,000 in fines for contempt court proceedings, the maximum amount allowed under the law.

In this, one of the harshest sentences ever handed out by the Court for contempt of court proceedings, the orders against Dominic Lacroix and DL Innov inc. were upheld, and the AMF is continuing its investigation to determine whether charges will be filed in the case.

Dominic Lacroix and DL Innov inc. had been found guilty of contempt of court proceedings on October 17, 2017. At that time, Justice Lesage stressed that the evidence filed by the AMF demonstrated beyond any doubt that Dominic Lacroix and DL Innov inc., the representatives and alter egos of PlexCorps and PlexCoin, had continued to solicit investors and offer them the opportunity to invest in PlexCoin, a cryptocurrency, despite the fact that there had been orders against them barring them from doing so effective as of July 20, 2017. The judgment declaring Dominic Lacroix and DL Innov inc. guilty of contempt of court proceedings was appealed.
