The AMF participates in local, domestic and international collaborations that strengthen its strategic partnerships and promote the sharing of best practices. Together with various partners, it contributes to initiatives to benefit from combined firepower to address shared financial crime issues.
Finfluencers
The AMF conducts awareness and monitoring activities to prevent and fight the illegal activities of certain financial influencers, commonly known as “finfluencers.”
These initiatives are part of an approach focused on protecting consumers, promoting responsible practices on digital platforms and ensuring compliance with the financial services legal framework.
Initiative targeting consumers
Information and prevention content is made available to the public to educate them on the risks associated with financial products and advice offered on the Internet and social media. This initiative encourages Quebeckers to adopt a critical mindset, learn to identify the red flags of misleading or fraudulent information and exercise caution when making financial decisions.

Initiative targeting finfluencers
At the same time, the AMF is conducting an initiative to inform finfluencers of their obligations and the rules they must abide by under the applicable laws. In this context, steps may be taken to raise their awareness and instill caution, including through direct communications or content removal requests. Steps may be taken to investigate more worrying situations. To learn more:
Concerted regulatory effort
These initiatives are part of a broader national and international collaborative effort to increase oversight of finfluencer activity and fight against illegal practices on-line.
During the Global Week of Action Against Unlawful Finfluencers held in June 2025, coordinated actions were taken in conjunction with several regulators in Canada and internationally. These actions were intended to raise public awareness, regulate the practices of financial influencers and prevent behaviour that could cause harm to consumers and financial market integrity.
This effort reflects a shared commitment of regulators to adapt to evolving digital platforms and strengthen public protection in a financial environment increasingly influenced by social media.

In April 2026, the AMF participated in the second edition of the Global Week of Action Against Unlawful Finfluencers. Led by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA, United Kingdom), this initiative brought together twice as many regulators as the first edition.
The purpose of the week of action was to enhance public protection, particularly for young people, in a context marked by the growing popularity of financial advice offered on social media. Although it conducts oversight activities year-round, the AMF stepped up its awareness-raising, detection and enforcement efforts during the week, including through educational outreach, regulatory reminders, investigations and enforcement actions.
