Michel Maheux again found guilty

Montréal – In a decision rendered on May 20, 2005, Judge Claude Leblond of the Court of Québec (Criminal and Penal Division), judicial district of Montréal, declared Michel Maheux to be guilty on the count brought against him by the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF).

Mr. Maheux faced one count for refusing to remit documents required by the investigator appointed by the AMF to conduct an investigation. He was ordered to pay a total fine in the amount of $1,000, plus costs.

Mr. Maheux was previously condemned to:

  • serve a prison term on March 22, 2005 for contempt of court;
  • pay a fine in the amount of $222,000, plus costs, after being found guilty on 74 counts on May 11, 2005.

The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec's financial sector.
