Illegal receipt of a commission - Claude Sicotte found guilty again

Montréal - On March 14, 2012, during a second trial before Judge Gaby Dumas, Justice of the Peace of the Court of Québec, district of Laval, Claude Sicotte was once again found guilty by default of illegally receiving a commission in connection with the sale of a financial product and fined $30,000.

During a first trial held in September 2010, the sentence had been pronounced in the absence of Mr. Sicotte. This second trial was further to a motion for revocation presented by Mr. Sicotte, which had been granted.

The day after his second trial by default, Mr. Sicotte filed a new a motion for revocation. This motion was rejected from the bench by Judge Gaby Dumas on April 12, 2012.

Claude Sicotte is therefore guilty of having illegally received a commission for the sale of a financial product and fined $30,000.

The Autorité des marchés financiers is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec's financial sector.
