35th IOSCO Annual Conference kicks offMontréal welcomes more than 650 representatives and experts from world finance

Montréal – Today marks the start of the 35th Annual Conference of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) at the Palais des congrès. More than 650 representatives and experts from the financial industry and market regulators from around the world will be meeting at this prestigious event through Thursday evening.
"The AMF is proud to be hosting the IOSCO's 35th Annual Conference at such a pivotal time in the history of international financial regulatory co-operation. IOSCO and other influential members of world finance will pursue major initiatives in Montréal aimed at building a stronger global financial framework," noted Jean St-Gelais, President and CEO of the Québec Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF).
The 35th IOSCO Annual Conference, which is being held only two weeks before the G20 Summit, is a pre-eminent discussion platform for financial experts from around the world and an opportunity for observers to participate in the discussions held during the public portion of the Conference.
Prominent speakers
Among the highlights of the Conference will be the address given by Québec Finance Minister Raymond Bachand during the opening ceremony on Wednesday, June 9, and the address by Paul A. Volcker, Chairman of President Obama’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board, ahead of the first public panel. On Thursday, June 10, the Governor of the Bank of Canada, Mark Carney, will address hundreds of participants just prior to the second panel. A total of four public panels will be held on June 9 and 10, attended by eminent international experts who will discuss major issues relating to financial market regulation.
