Lloyd's pays $25,000 penalty to AMF

The underwriters of Lloyd's have paid a penalty in the amount of $25,000 to the AMF, which argued that the company sold Freedom Medical Plan insurance policies through distributors without previously submitting the related distribution guide to the AMF. As well, the AMF argued that Lloyd's distributed a policy that stated it was administered by North American Air Travel Insurance Agents Ltd., dba Travel Underwriters, a licensed insurance broker, although the latter is not authorized to operate as such in Québec. The AMF has asked Lloyd's to remove any such reference from the policy.
