Montréal - On October 18, 2011, Judge Christine Auger, Justice of the Peace of the Court of Québec, district of Hull, ordered Céline Émond to pay fines totalling $32,000, double the minimum fine set out by law.

Céline Émond, officer responsible for Assurances Céline Émond, pleaded guilty to eight counts brought against her by the Autorité des marchés financiers, (the AMF), which accused her of aiding her firm to act illegally in damage insurance between January and March 2010, while under suspension.

In December 2009, the AMF suspended the registration of Assurances Céline Émond due to administrative breaches and imposed an administrative penalty of $2,000 against it. The suspension was lifted in April 2010.

The Autorité des marchés financiers (the AMF) is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec's financial industry.
