Failing to appear before an investigator - Sam Grinfeld fined $4,000
Montréal - On March 27, 2015, Justice of the Peace Suzanne Bousquet of the Court of Québec for the district of Montréal fined Sam Grinfeld a total of $4,000 after he pleaded guilty to one count for failing to appear in connection with an investigation by the Autorité des marchés financiers (the "AMF"). The fine is double the minimum fine set by law.
The AMF reminds persons called to appear before its investigators that they must respond to requests for documents and to submit to examination, failing which they could be charged and fined.
Registered firms and professionals who fail to produce documents requested by the AMF in connection with an inspection within the prescribed time period may also be fined.
The Autorité des marchés financiers (the "AMF") is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec's financial sector.
