AMF's Education and Good Governance Fund supports ten projects

Organization

Montréal - The Autorité des marchés financiers (the "AMF") has announced that ten projects will receive a total of $748,717 in funding through the Education and Good Governance Fund (EGGF).

The projects chosen from among those submitted by the October 15, 2015 deadline involve research or education and pertain to the concerns, needs or challenges of Québec's financial sector. "By supporting these projects, the AMF is highlighting new initiatives which will advance financial education and improve Quebeckers' financial well-being. Some of the projects are directly related to the Québec Financial Education Strategy (pdf - 1,016 KB)This link will open in a new windowUpdated on October 16, 2015," noted the AMF President and CEO, Louis Morisset.

The AMF set up the Québec Financial Education Strategy to optimize efforts and resources dedicated to supporting consumers, who are assuming greater responsibility in managing their personal finances. In connection with this goal, several of the projects chosen aim to educate specific clienteles: school children, young adults starting their career, new parents, retirees and the elderly. Another project will develop a tool to help consumers compare the different types of credit available to them.

Since its inception in 2004, the EGGF has granted over $30 million for 201 projects focussed on investor protection and education, the promotion of good governance and the advancement of knowledge. Organizations and academics can submit their projects twice a year, by the October 15 and April 15 deadlines.
