Montréal – The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) has launched penal proceedings against Jean-Claude Morin in the Court of Québec, district of Saint-Hyacinthe, and is seeking fines totalling $377,000.

Specifically, the AMF alleges that Jean-Claude Morin illegally pursued activities as a securities adviser with an unrestricted practice by managing the portfolio of an investor for 377 days between May 2002 and November 2003.

Reminder to investors

The AMF reminds consumers that they should consult the Register of firms and individuals authorized to practice before entrusting funds to anyone for investment purposes. It is also important to verify whether the individual is authorized to sell the products and services being offered. If they are unsure, consumers should contact the AMF Information Centre.
