AMF launching suit against Claude Plouffe

Montréal – The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) has launched penal proceedings in the Court of Québec (Criminal and Penal Division in the judicial district of Montréal) against Claude Plouffe.
The AMF has filed one count against Mr. Plouffe, who lives in Laval, for violating the Act respecting the distribution of financial products and services R.S.Q., c. D-9.2 (the “Act”):
- by acting as a damage insurance broker without holding a certificate issued by the AMF and offering a damage insurance product, thereby violating section 12 of the Act.
The AMF is seeking a total fine in the amount of $8,760.
The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec’s financial sector.
