Shareholders' Meetings - It's Your BusinessAMF launches new guide for investors

Organization

Montréal – The Autorité des marchés financiers ("AMF") announces the publication of a new guide for investors titled "Shareholders' Meetings: It's Your Business."

The guide is intended for investors who are shareholders and urges them to take an active part in shareholders' meetings. It contains information to help shareholders better understand their rights and to be adequately prepared for meetings. It also features a glossary explaining concepts and terms related to shareholders' meetings.

"Shareholders cannot be part of the daily management and operations of a corporation. However, shareholders' meetings give investors an opportunity to express their opinions and address questions to management," said Anne-Marie Poitras, AMF Superintendent, Client Services and Compensation. "The new guide will help them know what their rights are and better understand documentation made available to them so they can more fully participate in shareholders' meetings."

The brochure Shareholders' Meetings: It's Your Business may be downloaded from the AMF website under Brochures and leaflets for consumers. Free copies can also be ordered by contacting the AMF Information Centre.

This latest brochure is part of a series of AMF tools and publications related to financial education. It is important for novice and experienced investors to be well informed before making investment decisions.

The Autorité des marchés financiers ("AMF") is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec's financial sector.
