AMF issues cease trade order against Gold-Quest International Corp.
Securities
Montréal – The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) has requested that the Bureau de décision et de révision en valeurs mobilières (BDRVM) issue a reciprocal cease trade order prohibiting Gold-Quest International Corp. (Gold-Quest), its officers, representatives and directors from carrying on any activity, directly, indirectly or via the Internet, in respect of transactions in securities.
Since March 2008, the Manitoba, British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario securities commissions have issued various warnings and cease trade orders in connection with Gold-Quest. In May 2008, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the United States District Court (District of Nevada) also issued a freeze order on the assets of Gold-Quest as well as a cease trade order.
The AMF considers it is in the public interest for the BDRVM to make this order against Gold-Quest, since it was acting as a dealer without being registered as such with the AMF and allegedly made a distribution of a form of investment without a prospectus or a prospectus exemption.
The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec’s financial sector.
