Montréal – The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) has imposed an administrative penalty in the amount of $5,000 against Les assurances Stéphane Dorais inc., pursuant to section 115 of the Act respecting the distribution of financial products and services (the “Distribution Act”).

The penalty was imposed because the firm, which is located in Saint-Hubert and whose officer in charge is Stéphane Dorais, failed to provide any valid reasons for failing to respond to repeated requests from the Chambre de l’assurance de dommages and the AMF. The required documents were finally furnished after notice was served by the AMF in advance of a decision in accordance with sections 115 and 117 of the Distribution Act.

The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec’s financial sector.
