A new way to access your automobile insurance claims file

Insurance

Montréal - Holders of a driver's licence can now access their automobile insurance claims file 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They can simply go to the website of the Groupement des assureurs automobiles This link will open in a new window and identify themselves using clicSÉQUR, the Québec government's authentication service.

This is another way to request a copy of your file, in addition to a regular request by Internet, with a delay of one business day, and requests made by mail or in person.

The Fichier central des sinistres automobiles (FCSA) gives automobile insurers licensed to operate in Québec information related to all automobile losses in which Québec drivers have been involved and for which an insurance claim (accident, theft, etc.) was filed.

Using the database, insurers can verify statements made by clients when underwriting new risks.

As for consumers, they can consult their claims file to better understand changes in their insurance premiums. As well, the file can be useful for the purpose of joining car pool services, which often require a recent copy of the file.

The automobile claims database belongs to the Autorité des marchés financiers pursuant to the Automobile Insurance Act This link will open in a new window. Management of the database has been entrusted to the Groupement des assureurs automobiles.
