Three suspects arrested in a fraud case estimated at more than $14 million
The integrated financial crime prevention team that is part of the organized financial crime investigations division of the Sûreté du Québec this morning arrested three individuals as part of an investigation into a Ponzi scheme estimated at over $14 million.
The team is made up of investigators from the Sûreté du Québec's financial integrity investigations unit and from the Autorité des marchés financiers ("AMF"). Its mandate is to investigate cases of financial market fraud.
