Nicole Gadbois-Lavigne and Réal Labelle appointed to AMF Advisory Board

Montréal - Nicole Gadbois-Lavigne and Réal Labelle were recently appointed members of the Advisory Board of the Autorité des marchés financiers (the "AMF") by the Minister of Finance, for a three-year term.

Appointed on July 29, 2016, Nicole Gadbois-Lavigne has been a self-employed business analyst and strategic consultant since July 2013. Previously, she worked as a senior executive consultant (financial sector) at Conseillers en gestion et informatique CGI Inc., and held a number of positions in the banking and securities brokerage fields. Ms. Gadbois-Lavigne earned an Executive MBA from McGill University and HEC Montréal, and a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) with a specialization in information technology from HEC Montréal.

Appointed to the Advisory Board on May 31, 2016, Réal Labelle is an honorary professor and former holder of the Stephen A. Jarislowsky Chair in Governance at HEC Montréal. In addition to serving as a past president of the Canadian Academic Accounting Association and the Association Académique Internationale de Gouvernance, he has been a member of the Board of the Institute for governance of private and public organizations. As a chartered professional accountant, he holds a PhD from the University of Grenoble, an MBA from McGill University, a Master of Commerce degree from the University of Sherbrooke and a BA from the University of Montréal. Before becoming a professor, he held a number of management positions at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and Canadian Business, as well as at Bell Canada and Touche Ross.

The Advisory Board is composed of a maximum of seven members who are appointed by the Finance Minister for their knowledge of the financial sector as well as their expertise in the area of administrative management. The Board advises the AMF on the compatibility of its actions with its mission as well as on its corporate governance, in particular as regards its budget estimates, staffing plan and activity plan. In addition, it makes recommendations to the AMF President and CEO concerning the appointment of AMF superintendents and to the Minister concerning the administration of the AMF and the efficient use of its resources.
