Mon plan, je le fais maintenant! - AMF helps consumers plan for retirement

Organization

Montréal – The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), in co-operation with the Question Retraite group of partners, has launched a free, interactive CD-ROM entitled Mon plan, je le fais maintenant! to help consumers plan for retirement.

User-friendly calculator
In addition to links to downloadable brochures, the CD-ROM contains a calculator that is easy to use, regardless of your level of knowledge of personal finance or financial planning. Based on only a few figures, the calculator provides an overview of all potential retirement earnings, including RRSP funds, the Québec Pension Plan and Old Age Security pensions as well as private retirement plan payments, if any.

"This tool was designed from the perspective that not all Québec consumers will have a stable, steady income stream when they retire. The calculator helps users to understand how their income will fluctuate during their retirement years. It not only estimates how much they will receive at retirement if their savings habits remain the same, but also the additional funds they will need to set aside to reach their retirement income goals," explained Anne-Marie Poitras, Superintendent, Client Services and Compensation.

Consumers can obtain a complimentary copy of Mon plan, je le fais maintenant! by contacting the AMF Information Centre.

The AMF website offers a wealth of information for consumers about retirement in the form of downloadable brochures, interactive games, leaflets and calculators.

The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec’s financial sector.
