Louise Demontigny fines $500

Decisions and Freeze and cease trade orders Insurance

Montréal – Judge Jean-Georges Laliberté of the Court of Québec (Criminal and Penal Division), district of Joliette, found Louise DeMontigny guilty on September 9, 2008 of pursuing activities as a group insurance representative without holding a certificate issued by the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF).

Judge Laliberté ordered Louise DeMontigny to pay a fine of $500, plus costs, for violating the Act respecting the distribution of financial products and services (the "Act") by:

  • pursuing activities as a group insurance representative at PWI without being registered as such with the AMF, thereby violating sections 12 and 461 of the Act.

The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec’s financial sector.
