Louis Morisset re-elected as Chairman of IOSCO MOU Monitoring Group

Montréal – The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is pleased to announce the reelection of Louis Morisset, Superintendent, Securities Markets, as Chairman of the Monitoring Group in respect of the Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Concerning Consultation and Cooperation and the Exchange of Information of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). Mr. Morisset's re-election was confirmed at the 34th IOSCO Annual Conference, held in Tel Aviv, Israel, from June 8 to 11, 2009.
Adopted in May 2002, the MOU stands as a significant IOSCO contribution for effective cooperation to ensure enforcement against cross-border securities offences. The Monitoring Group chaired by Mr. Morisset is mandated primarily to supervise the implementation of the MOU and ensure it is properly applied by all 55 current signatories. As Chairman, Mr. Morisset may intervene directly with signatories to facilitate the resolution of conflicts regarding the application or interpretation of the MOU.
