Organization

Montréal – With the financial support of the Montréal Exchange and of the Education and Good Governance Fund (the “Fund”) of the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), the Centre for the Law of Business and International Trade of the University of Montréal is launching a specialized graduate law profile in financial products and markets in Québec.

Aimed at training specialized legal advisors, this innovative profile will be offered as of fall 2009, enhancing what is currently available in Québec in terms of research, teaching and training related to financial products and markets law. Jointly funded by the Montréal Exchange and the AMF, the profile includes three bursaries: a $5,000 entrance bursary, a $10,000 internship bursary and a $10,000 bursary for writing a master’s research paper. For the enrolment period, the profile description and eligibility criteria are now available on the website of the University of Montréal’s Centre for the Law of Business and International Trade at www.cdaci.umontreal.ca This link will open in a new window.

The expertise acquired at the AMF’s Centre of Excellence for Derivatives, whose mission includes fostering the expertise and continued growth of the derivatives industry in Québec, also contributed to the development of this university profile.

"Like the Montréal Exchange, the AMF is very pleased to be partnering with the University of Montréal to help develop a solid law profile focusing on financial products and markets, particularly derivative instruments. Furthermore, this initiative is in line with the mandate of the Education and Good Governance Fund, which aims to improve knowledge of the financial sector in Québec," said Anne-Marie Poitras, AMF Superintendent, Client Services and Compensation.

The Education and Good Governance Fund is dedicated to improving knowledge of the financial sector in Québec by supporting education and research projects.
