Launch of eight educational brochures

Organization

Montréal – In light of today’s fast-changing and increasingly complex financial markets, the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is releasing eight educational brochures that will help answer consumer questions about their investments.

The titles of the brochures, which deal with various investment topics, are listed below:

  • Update your financial position
  • Choose investments that suit you
  • Short Investment Glossary
  • Choosing a securities firm and representative
  • Mutual Funds
  • Watch out for securities fraud
  • Prospectuses made clear
  • Prospectus exemptions

“The AMF is pleased to make these publications available to consumers,” said Anne-Marie Poitras, Executive Director, Client Services and Compensation. “They will help consumers to better understand various investment strategies and products, as well as recognize indications of possible illegal activity or fraud in the investment sector. Well-informed investors are in a better position to make investment decisions and protect their money.”

The publication of these brochures reflects the AMF’s commitment to support consumers with their purchases or use of financial products and services by providing, in various ways, ready access to relevant, objective information that is easy to understand.

The brochures are available from the AMF website by accessing “Making informed investment decisions” in the Consumer section or by contacting an AMF Information Centre representative at 1 866 526-0311.

The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec's financial sector.
