Huguette L'Heureux fined $42,000

Montréal - On March 6, 2015, Judge Christian Boulet of the Court of Québec, judicial district of Québec City, imposed fines totalling $42,000 on Huguette L'Heureux further to the joint recommendation of the parties. Huguette L'Heureux had pleaded guilty to 12 counts related to illegal distribution activities and illegal practice as a securities dealer.

The Autorité des marchés financiers ("AMF") accused Huguette L'Heureux of acting as a referral agent with six investors by inciting them to acquire debt securities of Best Harbour Management Ltd. The company would subsequently acquire shares of various private firms on behalf of investors. The losses incurred by investors as a result of the actions taken by Huguette L'Heureux totalled $28,000.

The Autorité des marchés financiers ("AMF") is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec's financial sector.
