Claude Vézeau pleads guilty to insider trading

Montréal – In Québec City courthouse, Claude Vézeau pleaded guilty on March 20, 2007 to the insider trading charge filed against him on April 27, 2004 by the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF).

Mr. Vézeau pleaded guilty to the following:

  • trading, through 9099-3569 Québec inc., in the securities of ConjuChem inc., of which he was a director, with the use of privileged information about this issuer, thereby violating section 189.1 of the Québec Securities Act.

Judge Micheline Dufour of the Court of Québec (Criminal and Penal Division) ordered him to pay a fine in the amount of $5,000, or almost double the profit realized.

The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec's financial sector.
