Bans against Beryl Henderson
Decisions and Freeze and cease trade orders
Montréal - At the request of the Autorité des marchés financiers ("AMF"), the Bureau de décision et de révision (the "Bureau") issued bans against Beryl Henderson on July 7, 2014.
Specifically, the Bureau ordered Henderson to cease any transactions in securities. It also banned her from acting as a securities adviser, investment fund manager as well as a director or officer of an issuer. As well, it denied her the benefit of any exemption under the Securities Act or related regulations.
Beryl Henderson pleaded guilty in 2012 to four counts of fraud for selling investment contracts in connection with Go Sports to a number of investors, including individuals from Québec, Ontario and Alberta, without being registered with the AMF, the Ontario Securities Commission ("OSC") or the Alberta Securities Commission ("ASC"). Investors lost all of their investment, which totalled $474,000. In 2013, the Ontario Court of Justice sentenced Beryl Henderson to 12 months of house arrest, three years' probation and restitution orders in the amount of $474,000. Similar sentences were also imposed by the OSC and the ASC.
The Autorité des marchés financiers (the AMF) is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec's financial sector.
