Montréal - The Minister of Finance recently appointed Andrée Mayrand as Chair of the Conseil consultatif de régie administrative (the "Advisory Board") of the Autorité des marchés financiers (the "AMF"), of which she has been a member since 2007. She succeeds Bernard Motulsky, who has completed his third term as Chair.
"The AMF wishes to sincerely thank Bernard Motulsky, who has chaired the Advisory Board since 2005, for his commitment and generous contribution to the Board. Through his skill at pinpointing issues and his leadership, Mr. Motulsky has led the Advisory Board over the past nine years, ensuring that it remains relevant, effective and influential," said Louis Morisset, President and CEO of the AMF. "I'm sure that under Ms. Mayrand, a seasoned manager with over twenty years' experience in the financial sector, the Advisory Board will be able to continue to contribute to the AMF's development, leadership and influence," concluded Mr. Morisset.
The AMF Advisory Board is composed of a maximum of seven members chosen by the Minister of Finance for their knowledge of the financial sector as well as for their expertise in the area of administrative management. The Advisory Board advises the AMF on the compatibility of its actions with its mission as well as its corporate governance, in particular as regards its budget estimates, staffing plan and activity plan. It also makes recommendations to the President and Chief Executive Officer concerning the appointment of AMF superintendents and reports to the Minister of Finance on any matter submitted to it by the Minister.
The Advisory Board is now made up of Andrée Mayrand, Chair, Michel Lespérance, Secretary, Louise Charette, Florent Francoeur, Yves Morency and Marie-Agnès Thellier.
The Autorité des marchés financiers (the AMF) is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec's financial sector.
