AMF to propose amendments to regulation respecting the compulsory professional development of financial planners

Organization

Montréal – The Autorité des marchés financiers will be proposing amendments to the Regulation respecting the compulsory professional development of financial planners related to the members of the Institut québécois de planification financière. The amendments are intended in particular to harmonize the reference period used for accumulating professional development units.

Such harmonization will be greatly appreciated, given that some 4,300 graduates from the Institut québécois de planification financière are also members of the Chambre de la sécurité financière. On November 30, 2006, the Regulation governing compulsory professional development of the Chambre de la sécurité financière came into force in Québec.

The AMF will publish a draft Regulation in its bulletin in January 2007 and will be consulting participants in the financial planning sector.

The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec’s financial sector.
