Gatineau – The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is pleased to partner with “L’École de l’argent” project set up by the youth employment organization Carrefour jeunesse emploi de l’Outaouais (CJEO).

The project was launched this morning in Gatineau with project partners and numerous regional stakeholders in attendance. The project is intended to promote the entrepreneurial spirit among young people aged 16 to 35. Planned activities include training to improve financial knowledge, workshops, conferences and meetings with business people and members of the financial community. A documentation centre and electronic tools will also be available to participants.

Anne-Marie Poitras, AMF Executive Director, Consumer Assistance and Compensation, said: “By partnering with a training project such as “L’École de l’argent,” the AMF contributes to the advancement of financial knowledge in the community, particularly among youth and future entrepreneurs. This is part of the mandate assigned to the Fund for Investor Education and the Promotion of Good Governance.”

The Fund for Investor Education and the Promotion of Good Governance has supported over fifteen research and training projects since it was created in 2004. It was set up by the AMF to improve knowledge of the financial sector as well as to promote proper management practices and encourage the highest quality of governance standards.

The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec's financial sector.
