Jacques Gagné found guilty

Montréal – In a ruling dated March 7, 2006, the Honourable Justice Raymonde Verreault of the Court of Québec, Criminal and Penal Division (district of Montréal), found Jacques Gagné guilty on three counts brought against him by the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF). Mr. Gagné is associated with the Coopérative des travailleurs en cinéma de Montréal and the firm Westminster Capital.
Mr. Gagné was found guilty of:
- failing to appear, on June 17, 2004, after two summonses to testify at AMF headquarters before agents appointed by the AMF to conduct an investigation, thereby violating section 195(4) of the Securities Act;
- refusing to furnish the items required by agents appointed to conduct the investigation, thereby violating section 195(4) of the Act. Mr. Gagné was ordered to pay a fine of $1,000 on each count, plus costs, for a total of $3,260.
The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec’s financial sector.
