Illegal practice in group insurance of persons - AMF launches proceedings against Stéphane Corbeil

Insurance

Montréal - The Autorité des marchés financiers (the "AMF") has launched penal proceedings in the judicial district of Saint-François against Stéphane Corbeil for illegal practice as an insurance representative.

The AMF intends to prove that Stéphane Corbeil carried on activities as an insurance representative with two firms when he no longer had a certificate allowing him to do so. If he is found guilty of the two charges laid against him, Mr. Corbeil could face a minimum fine of $18,103.60.

Stéphane Corbeil is also the subject of a penal proceeding launched by the AMF in 2014 for agreeing to or granting premium discounts.

The Autorité des marchés financiers (the "AMF") is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec's financial sector.
