PlexCoin - Dominic Lacroix and DL Innov inc. guilty of contempt of court proceedings

Decisions and Freeze and cease trade orders Securities

Montréal – On October 17, 2017, further to a request from the Autorité des marchés financiers (the “AMF”), the Honourable Justice Marc Lesage of the Superior Court of Québec, District of Québec, found Dominic Lacroix and DL Innov inc. guilty of contempt of court proceedings.

In his decision, Justice Lesage stressed that the evidence filed by the AMF demonstrated beyond any doubt that Dominic Lacroix and DL Innov inc., the representatives and alter egos of PlexCorps and PlexCoin, continued to, directly and indirectly, solicit investors and offer them the opportunity to invest in PlexCoin, a cryptocurrency, after orders were rendered by the Financial Markets Administrative Tribunal barring them from doing so effective as of July 20, 2017.

One of those orders specifically prohibits Dominic Lacroix and DL Innov inc. from engaging in activities for the purpose of directly or indirectly trading in any form of investment described in section 1 of the Securities Act, including the solicitation of investors in Québec and the solicitation, from Québec, of investors outside the province.

Justice Lesage has deferred the hearing of the parties on the penalty in this case until November 14, 2017.

The Autorité des marchés financiers is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec’s financial sector.
