Appeal by Régis Cloutier dismissed

Decisions and Freeze and cease trade orders Insurance

Montréal – Judge Jacques-J Lévesque of Superior Court (Criminal and Penal Division) in the district of Québec City has dismissed the appeal filed by Régis Cloutier.

Mr. Cloutier appealed a decision handed down on December 19, 2006 by Judge Narcisse Proulx of the Court of Québec (Criminal and Penal Division) in the district of Québec City, whereby he was found guilty of 2  charges and ordered to pay a fine of $12,500.

Charges were filed against Régis Cloutier by the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) for violations of the Act respecting the distribution of financial products and services, R.S.Q. c. D-9 (2) (the “Act”):

  • by acting as a damage insurance representative without being registered with the AMF between March 1, 2004 and February 13, 2005, thereby violating section 12 of the Act (25 charges).

The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is the regulatory and oversight body for Québec’s financial sector.
