Marie-Agnès Thellier, member Montréal Area

Marie-Agnès Thellier is a corporate director. From 2006 to 2014, she served, in particular, as President and CEO of the Cercle des présidents du Québec.

Trained at the École supérieure de journalisme de Lille and a graduate with a master's degree in geography from the Université de Lille-I (France), Ms. Thellier earned an MBA from Université Laval in June 1991. In September 2011, she was awarded the designation of certified corporate director by the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés of Université Laval. Ms. Thellier currently serves on the board of the Société du musée d’archéologie et d’histoire de Montréal, Pointe-à-Callière, a not-for-profit organization. 

In the 15 years prior to assuming her position at the Cercle des présidents du Québec, Ms. Thellier managed projects and teams primarily in the area of print media. As director of the financial pages of the Journal de Montréal at Quebecor Media, she was in charge of the daily business section and the weekly money section from 2002 to 2005. Prior to that, she was editor-in-chief of the monthly magazine Affaires PLUS at Transcontinental Media, where she also helped launch Finance et Investissement, which she headed from 1999 to 2000.

Marie-Agnès Thellier began her professional career in France. After moving to Québec, she worked for nine years at Le Devoir (1977-1986) as an economic and financial affairs journalist and a regional development columnist, then as a parliamentary correspondent in Québec City. She then contributed to various media, and was awarded a scholarship towards her MBA.

Prior to her appointment to the Advisory Board in August 2014, Ms. Thellier served for seven years on the committee that assesses projects submitted to the AMF’s Education and Good Governance Fund.

Further to assent being given on December 8, 2021 to the Act to amend various legislative provisions mainly with respect to the financial sector, which created a board of directors within the AMF and abolished the Conseil consultatif de régie administrative (Advisory Board), Ms. Thellier will continue in office as a member of the board of directors for the remainder of her term.
