Life Licence Qualification Program (LLQP)

Presentation of the program

On January 1 2016, the Life Licence Qualification Program (LLQP) came into effect in all Canadian provinces and territories. This program allows candidates to certify themselves in the following sectors and sector classes:

  • Insurance of persons sector;
  • Accident and sickness insurance sector class;
  • Group insurance of persons sector;
  • Group insurance plans sector class;
  • Group annuity plans sector class.

It should be noted that implementation of the LLQP does not affect individuals who already hold a certificate in the target sectors or sector classes.

Moreover, the implementation of the LLQP does not modify the scope of representatives’ certificates. Sectors and sector classes as well as their scope of application remain the same after January 1, 2016.

No changes will be made to the structure of the probationary period.

Transition

A candidate who has passed a part of the examinations necessary to obtain a representative’s certificate in the insurance of persons sector, in the group insurance of persons sector or in one of their sector classes can benefit from transitional measures if their examinations are still valid. The candidate must:

  • Complete the new mandatory training (no exemptions will be granted);
  • Submit an application for authorization to register for examinations;
  • Register for the examinations;
  • Pass the required examinations. Candidates may be exempt from some examinations based on the following concordance table.
